The first appointment (also called an intake) is a parent consultation held without your child present. This gives you an opportunity to share your concerns, provide background information, and ask questions. I will also explain the counseling process and what to expect moving forward.
Your child's first therapy session is focused on building trust and helping them feel comfortable. Through play and conversation, I will begin getting to know your child and create a safe, welcoming environment to work towards our goals.

Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your personal history, current concerns, and what you hope to gain from the counseling process. You'll also have plenty of time to ask questions and learn more about my approach. Together, we'll begin identifying goals and creating a plan that feels right for you.

Appointments are typically scheduled weekly or every other week on the same day and time to promote consistency.
-
I am happy to reschedule appointments with at least 24 hours notice. You can make changes in your client portal, give me a call, or send me an email.
Please note that a $100 cancellation fee will be applied to missed appointments (no-show) and cancellations with less than 24 hours notice provided.

I have a limited number of after-school appointments and understand that scheduling therapy during school hours isn't always ideal. We'll find an appointment time that minimizes the impact on your child's school day, typically requiring them to miss about one hour each week.
If your child is seen during school hours, I'm happy to provide a school excuse note for the appointment. Most schools recognize the importance of mental health care and are supportive of students attending counseling when needed.
-
Parent involvement is an important part of the therapy process. I typically meet with parents for a consultation about every 5–6 weeks to discuss progress, share insights, answer questions, and provide strategies to support your child at home. These check-ins help ensure we're working together toward your child's goals.
